Difference: CNAOFeb2012 (8 vs. 9)

Revision 92015-07-23 - TWikiAdminUser

CNAO @ Jul 2012

Aim

  • Redo the Catania/GSI measurements on proton beam on PMMA target.
  • Several angles have to be tested: 90 deg, 60 deg, 75 deg
Beam structure. Spill to Spill 3-4 seconds. Spill lasts for 1 second. We are going to study that with the scope

Beam Energy: Computed by simulations (table from G. Battistoni is available)

When?

July 20 - 22 .

  • July 20: mounting + first minutes of beam + calibration with source
  • July 21: 4 hours of beams... found that the SC are not behaving properly
  • July 21-22 night: 8 hours of datataking. First hourse devoted to SC replacement, then few hours at different angles/depths/energies.
Calibrations:
  • Lyso0 and Lyso1 have been calibrated with Co60 and Eu152
  • t0s for the chambers can be obtained by all the runs together....

Where?

Hall 1. Control room 3m out of corridoio.

GAS

Ar/CO2

  • We need to bring the premixed bottle
  • Exhaust is ok.

Mechanics

  • Rec for electronics? Arrived/mounted... We will bring it.
  • Needs to finalize the choice for the mechanical structure (we need to check how it goes with the angles study)

  • Need to know:

    1. beam height
Final setup (Catania like):
  1. Lyso + collim
  2. Two Nai at 180 degrees
  3. New Beam Monitor

Hardware

  • New Beam monitor
  • 2 NaI detectors.
  • Collimator (slit)
  • 2 LYSO
  • Start Counter [we already have it]
  • Palettino before New Beam Monitor?

Night btw 21/22 july.

  • Run: data/MainRun_2107_113mm_run1.dat : verify the impact of changes during the afternoon. A channel from drift chamber is recovered. SC continues to give troubles. Proceed at really low rate (100 Hz daq). Access at 23:40
  • Run: data/MainRun_2107_123mm_run2.dat : SC continues to give problems. But now rate is higher. Run 2 is taken at 132.72 MeV (123 mm) (113_run2 is a typo)
  • 2:14: intensity is higer, now the transmitted intensity is 50% (before was 20).
Changed:

  • MainRun_2107_123mm_run4 --> rate osservata e' 1kHz… --> 321k events collected (Si e' spostato di 0.5mm in x positive…. banana plot seems to be worse (dirtier).)

  • Going back to *20 intensity (ridurre intensita'), we go @ 125mm run5

  • MainRun _2107_117mm_run8 started @ 5:15

  • Si entra per rimetterci a 90deg

DAQ

Checked that we can bring our WS1 for daq. There will be an ethernet connection from control room to hall: private network to connect to the WS1, and then we have a wireless to connect to outside. We will use a bridge for the acquisition (either usb or fiber).

DAQ config

  • TDC multihit ch 0-35: 36 tdc times from beam monitor
  • tdc and adc for the NaIs
  • Signals from machine?
  • RF or monitoring of position/energy
